FOUR MYTHES ABOUT SAUNA
No. Weight can be reduced maximum for a day – due to loss of moisture, because of soaring. But during the day a person gains lost, and the fat in the sauna does not absorb. However, if you go to the sauna regularly, at least once a week, you can still lose weight, due to the fact that the whole body becomes healthier, which means that the metabolism improves, including the adipose tissue. However, the result is possible only with the help of bathers.
On the contrary! Heat causes expansion of blood vessels and a decrease in pressure, therefore, elevated pressure is not a contraindication for visiting the sauna. Of course, if we are not talking about going off-scale numbers for 200/100 mm.rt.st. In this case, it is necessary to call an ambulance, and does not to go to the sauna. The only thing that hypertensive patients should avoid is jumping into an icy pool, which can provoke a spasm of blood vessels and a rise in pressure. To cool the hypertensive patients must use a cool shower.
No. From a long stay in the hot air, the tone decreases, the amount of sperm decreases and its quality deteriorates. But not for a long time, only for a day or two. Then everything comes back to normal.
No, as well as well-fed. It is better to go to the sauna in 1.5-2 hours after eating, and it is better to eat food that retains moisture, for example, soup, vinaigrette, fruit salad. Such kind of food will most effectively deal with dehydration, which may occur in the steam room.
7 REASONS TO LOVE SAUNA
SAUNA IS USEFUL FOR…
… Physical tiredness
WHAT HAS CAUSED THE EFFECT?
Under the influence of the heat of the sauna, blood circulation in the muscles increases and slags such as lactic acid, which are formed when muscles work, are more likely to be removed from them. In addition, the stretch ability and flexibility of the muscles increases from warming up, various light injuries are treated faster.
… Stress
WHAT HAS CAUSED THE EFFECT?
Due to the fact that the bulk of the blood rushes to the muscles, it becomes less in the brain. It relieves mental tension, relaxes and even makes some visitors slowed down.
… Joint diseases
WHAT HAS CAUSED THE EFFECT? In the steam room there is a deep warming of the whole organism, including the joints, and often visitors go through a reflex therapy session in the form of a “banging” with a broom.
… With vegetative-vascular dystonia
WHAT HAS CAUSED THE EFFECT?
In the sauna, the heart rate rises by 60-70%. The heart starts to work especially hard at high temperature on the upper shelf of the steam room and whipping with a broom. Pouring cold water dramatically reduces the heart rate by 30-35 beats per minute or more. Such a drop trains the muscles of the blood vessels and the heart itself, weakened by vegetative-vascular dystonia (one of the main symptoms of this disorder is low blood pressure). This is nothing but hardening, which, besides its use in dystonia, is useful for the prevention of colds.
… Chronic kidney disease
WHAT HAS CAUSED THE EFFECT?
In the sauna, the blood is well cleaned from toxins that circulate in it. They come out with sweat, and not with urine, that is why we facilitate the work of the kidneys (to remove slags is first of all their work). Moreover cleaning the blood is one of the ways to increase immunity. In addition, deep warming also improves the metabolism in the kidneys, bringing recovery.
… In chronic bronchitis and other non-acute inflammations of the respiratory organs
WHAT HAS CAUSED THE EFFECT?
Heat in the sauna irritates the receptors of the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract, from which their work is stimulated – absorption of oxygen, removal of carbon dioxide, purification of the mucous from slags. In addition, from the use of various aromatic blends and brooms, the steam room becomes a giant inhaler that stimulates the cleaning processes, expands the bronchi and prevents the growth of microbes due to the high content of phytoncids in the air – plant antibiotics.
.. With flabby and greasy skin
WHAT HAS CAUSED THE EFFECT?
The influx of heat to the skin expands the small skin capillaries and improves the metabolism in the skin, from which it becomes tightened. Various masks that are used in the sauna exfoliate old epithelial cells – the skin becomes smooth. In addition, the pores are cleaned from excess sebum.
AQUASTOVE – HISTORY, CHARACTERISTICS AND POSITIVE PROPERTIES
Aquastove is modern and ecological stove, that installed in the men’s category of our bath complex.
Our compatriot, Vasily Kutsenko, from Odessa, is the creator of the Aquastove. He was the first in the market of sauna stoves who realized that getting steam from stones was long and troublesome. The stones can be heated for a long time, and you can pour them very quickly, so the bath is over. He decided to get steam, bypassing the stones, getting it from boiled water and then overheating it to the desired temperature.
Steam reaches 400 * C without pressure, producing molecular dry light steam. In addition, the steam generator is located around the furnace firebox, which completely eliminated the influence of the harmful hard radiation spectrum from the furnace to the bath and secured the stove from burning.
Having such a patented steam generator with a wall temperature no higher than 120 * C, the creator defeated another problem inherent in all metal stoves – burning organic matter from the atmosphere of a steam room and “burning out” oxygen because of it. Due to this, in the steam room with Aquastove it is EXTREMELY easy to breathe. In the steam room with Aquastove we get clean, oxygen-enriched (healing) steam, which is one of the distinguishing features of Aquastove.
ALCOHOL IN THE BAN
Today, many people like to gather in saunas in large companies and enjoy not only the high temperature in the steam room, but also high-quality alcohol. Others prefer the rus’ka sauna and a mug of real beer. A visit to any bath rarely goes without alcohol, and doctors insist that such a vacation turns out to be extremely dangerous for the body. What threatens do the use of alcohol after the steam room have?
ALCOHOL DOESN’T IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH
By itself, the culture of visiting a bath presupposes a sober pastime, cleansing the body physically and morally, removing toxins and metabolic products, eventually liberating from unpleasant thoughts and that negative, without which life cannot be done.
Alcohol, of course, allows you to relax, but if alcohols are unsafe when used in normal conditions, then in the bath they certainly will not help you to improve your health. Therefore, if you want to spend time and have a good rest culturally and usefully for your health – give up alcohol, and if you cannot relax without it, go to a cafe or restaurant – do not strain your body with exposure to high temperatures.
WHY DOES ALCOHOL DANGEROUS IN BATH AND SAUNA?
Molecules of alcohols, getting into the bloodstream, cause the transition of water from the intercellular space into the lumen of the vessel. As a result, the volume of circulating blood increases, and to a greater extent than vessels expand under the influence of high temperatures. As a result, there is an increase in blood pressure, which is especially dangerous for people who suffer from diseases of the heart and blood vessels.
In such cases, the vessels simply cannot expand enough under the influence of heat due to the disruption of physiological processes in their wall, but the volume of circulating blood increases dramatically. As a result, pressure can reach critical values and lead to rupture of the vessel with the development of bleeding (at best, nasal) and hemorrhages, including in the brain.
ALCOHOL AND INADEFICIENT BEHAVIOR
Alcohol slows down the inhibitory processes in the central nervous system, as a result of which the perception of the surrounding space and the behavior of a person can change. Such effects at high temperatures baths are even more pronounced, since the molecules of alcohol are absorbed faster and reach the brain cells.
A person who has consumed a large amount of alcohol in a sauna may behave inadequately, do not understand what is happening around, and carry out completely unpredictable actions that pose a danger both to his health and life, and to those around him.
THE SAUNA WITHOUT ALCOHOL
Many people who are used to visiting a sauna or a bath just to see friends and enjoy alcohol, it is not clear why they still need to go to a Finnish, rus’ka, Turkish or any other bath.In fact, the culture of visiting such establishments implies a complete rejection of alcohol, because in the bath there is always something to enjoy – a steam room, a cold pool, relaxing music or just chatting with friends.
Here you can have a great time without alcohol and not put your health at risk. Many people believe that alcohol in the bath passes for them without a trace. In fact, even if there are no visible changes, alcoholic beverages nullify the recovery that can be obtained from visiting the steam room, and lead to the development or aggravation of existing diseases.
GENERAL RULES FOR SAUNA VISITING
On all continents there have always existed “their” baths traditions peculiar to them only, their peculiarities, and their color. Practically at all nationalities bathing procedures at the dawn of their appearance acquired the status of religious rituals, original ceremonies. Different nations of the world had certain etiquette, which, while visiting a bath, was ordered to strictly observe, and the subtleties of the bath process were passed down from generation to generation.
Unfortunately, some traditions, the rules of behavior in the bath, although they have come down to our times, are often either distorted or not followed.
Today, we’d like to recommend you a set of general rules for sauna visiting:
There are not only general rules for visiting baths, but also general contraindications. So, it is not recommended to visit a steam room bath for people with cancer, at elevated temperatures during the flu, acute respiratory infections and tonsillitis. Ischemic heart disease, epilepsy, acute myocardial infarction, bronchial asthma, hypertension of the II and III stage – people with such diagnoses are at high risk when visiting the bath.
Compliance with the general rules and taking into account contraindications will allow you to avoid serious consequences and get absolute pleasure from visiting any bath.
RUS’KA SAUNA (BANYA)
Rus’ka sauna is a steam bath with brooms, with an air temperature of not more than +70 ° C air and 80-100% humidity. The history of the steam room goes back to the distant past long before the formation of Kiev Rus. Our ancestors used the steam room to meet many needs and requirements, in particular, to cleanse the body of dirt accumulated a day after hard work, and also to get rid of various diseases and bring your body back to normal.
The main difference between the bath and the sauna: the rus’ka bath is steam, and the Finnish sauna is dry air. The difference between a sauna and a rus’ka bath is primarily in humidity. In the steam bath, the air temperature is 40-70 ° and relative humidity is 90-100%, and in the Finnish sauna at a temperature of 90-110 °, the humidity varies from 10-25%.
Humid steam allows the use of relatively low air temperature. Since the humidity in such a steam room is 100%, the evaporation of sweat from the body is practically stopped, and therefore it warms up more efficiently and with less water loss.
Considerable benefit in the rus’ka bath, you can get from quilting a broom. The broom has a dual meaning: on the one hand, it is an excellent massage, it relaxes the muscles and activates the blood circulation in the skin. On the other hand, the broom contains many essential oils and other biologically active substances that have a positive effect on the skin and overall health.
TURKISH BATH (HAMAM)
For many Eastern people, a healthy person is equated with a pure one; therefore going to the bath for them is a peculiar ritual. From ancient times, the hammam was used to bring his body and soul in order, getting rid of everything unnecessary and as if being born again.
Turkish bath, which helps a person to relax and attain peace, is called a hammam. For a long time this place was considered a symbol of Eastern culture and traditions. Hammam – is an ancient public bath, which appeared during the Roman Empire. It is worth noting that the difference between the Turkish steam bath and the rus’ka one is associated with a special temperature regime, since the value falls in the range of 30-50 ° C.
To highlight the main distinguishing features, it is necessary to compare the main parameters:
There is a definite scheme for what to do in this type of sweating room to get pleasure and maximum benefit.
In order to bring pleasure to the steam room, it is important to follow a number of important tips, and there are still some traditions of visiting the hamam:
Trips to the steam room favorably affect the condition of a person who has no contraindications.
In some situations, going to a Turkish bath can be harmful, so you need to know the existing contraindications.
WHAT YOU CAN EAT BEFORE AND AFTER THE SAUNA PROCEDURES
Sauna is more than just a tradition. Almost everyone likes to go to it – both for health, rest, and for communication. Because of the loads on the body, you want to eat. What is allowed to be eaten and what is not in the sauna. Anyone who likes to visit the sauna should know which snacks are allowed before and after the procedures and which are prohibited.
Light lunch or breakfast will help the body gain strength before the sauna.
The most important rule – you cannot eat enough to visit the bath. If the stomach is full, you can visit the steam room no earlier than after 4 hours.
The best option for a meal before visiting the sauna will be light food – yoghurts, fruits, vegetables, cereal, and soup. You can taste the potatoes (boiled) and pilaf, but without meat. In the sauna, before the procedures, radish and juice are highly recommended for improving digestion.
It is very useful to drink juice or fruit drink – these drinks stimulate blood circulation, which, in turn, increases the positive effect of the sauna.
It is very undesirable to visit sauna on an empty stomach, by the way. Despite all the healing properties and relaxation, a bath for the body is quite a serious stress.
After the sauna, fruits and vegetables are also quite appropriate. A light lunch of lean soup is welcome. Salad is required, and the more ingredients in it (apples, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, cranberries, cheese), the better. To restore the water balance is recommended sauerkraut. You can eat cheese, small sandwiches. The goal is not to overload the body in the intervals between visits, but to give it strength.
The body spends a lot of energy on the digestion of fatty foods, and in the bath the loads are already high.
As before the procedures, and after them in no case you cannot eat heavy and fatty foods, fast food. Due to severe dehydration, such food will put a heavy load on the liver. Do not eat sweets, especially cakes or ice cream.
In spite of the fact that after a bath a terrible feeling of hunger usually attacks, you should wait at least half an hour before eating, and even then only light foods.
Sauna, despite its healing properties, can be dangerous. Spending time there wisely and improve your health.
WHAT IS A PUBLIC BATH(SAUNA)?
The German scientist Adam Olearius, who had taken a trip to Russia in the 17th century, was amazed at seeing the rus’ka sauna traditions: “They, lying on the shelves, tell themselves to be beaten with a heated birch broom. Then, when they turn red from the heat, they run out and pour cold water on them, and in the winter, jumping out of the bath, they wallow in the snow, rub the body with it as if with soap, and then cool down in such a way, again they enter the hot bath. ” At the same time, he noted that “in all cities and villages they have a lot of public and private saunas, in which you will almost always find a lot of washable ones.
The first public saunas, according to the chronicles, appeared in the first centuries of Christianity. They settled in monasteries and were like Greek public saunas. Historians believe that it was their traditions that were adopted by the Pechora monks who visited Mount Athos (late 10th – early 11th centuries).
Later documents indicated how the family saunas differed from the public ones. First, the size, and, secondly, the device – the steam room was fenced off from the so-called “soap” (washing compartment). At least, such were the public baths in Russia in the XVIII century.
No matter how many times the state was going through, the rus’ka bath traditions never stopped. On the contrary, they developed and multiplied. So, gradually, taverns and barber shops were “attached” to the baths, later the public bath was “overgrown” with buffets, massage and beauty salons, and more recently with bars, and even tanning salons.
In general, it must be said that modern public baths provide the population with a rather wide choice: from the place and method of bathing (in the common room or in a separate room) to passing procedures and services (massage, manicure, haircut, drinks, etc.). Thus, the current opinion about the ugliness and scarcity of baths for the people today is not always true. Yes, during the Soviet era, the state of public baths left much to be desired, but all of them were planned unprofitable enterprises, so there was no question of any particular comfort. First of all, they were charged with the performance of the main function – to be accessible to all segments of the population. By the way, it remains relevant today.
In the late 80s – early 90s, an increased interest in baths arose in the country – they began to build their own saunas in cottages, in country houses and in summer cottages. The first small commercial baths appeared. If one does not take into account the “stained” reputation of some of these institutions, their appearance could only be welcomed. However, at that time the public baths changed little, the business was oriented towards the organization of elite, closed and VIP saunas. Many “bathhouses for the people” fell into disrepair, were closed or dragged out of a miserable existence.
Today, public baths are beginning to experience a rebirth. An increasing number of people are choosing a healthy lifestyle, and the bath is out of competition here!
HOW TO STEAM IN THE SAUNA?
The closer to December 31st, the more people, according to the good old tradition, “put the skies on” in the bathhouse – in order to celebrate the New Year. Well, besides the fact that you can get out of the sauna clean, you can also get out of it healthy, but only if you do everything right.
Take a regular sheet, towel (you can rent), soap, a sponge, a brush, shampoo, shower gel, makeup remover, etc., as well as something to protect the hair (they become brittle). Do not forget about flip flops (so as not to pick up the fungus).
“A broom in the sauna is a head, says the bath proverb. At the same time, every disease has its own broom. Birch is a symbol of the sauna, helps from pain, muscle and joint aches, pustules on the skin, soothes, and improves sputum discharge. Oak is more suitable for people with oily skin, it makes it matte and elastic, also heals wounds and pustules and relieves increased pressure. Lime – from headache, has a diuretic effect, strongly sweats, cleans, and expands the bronchi. Broom from rowan leaves and tansy grass – unlike all brooms is good to use it in the morning, before work. Coniferous are useful for any inflammation, and most of all – for rheumatism. In addition, it calms the nervous system well. This is the only broom that can be harvested all year round.
Upon arrival, take a shower in warm water. Don’t wash your hair. Remove the make-up. Now everything is ready to go into the “heart” of the bath. Don’t forget to put off metal jewelry and watches, put on a hat and open the door to the steam room.
The hottest shelf is the top one, the “cold” one is the bottom one. If you are a person with average health, feel free to fall on the middle, if with the weak – on the bottom. Healthy and trained people can rise from the second tier to the third in a few minutes. Correctly to lie like this: on the stomach, head in the opposite direction from the stove, hands along the body, or you can sit. Do not forget about humidity. If the steam room becomes dry, refresh the walls. Staying in a bath should not last more than 5-7 minutes during one cycle. After all the procedures, do not get up from the shelf right away – it may spin in your head, but lie down for 2-3 minutes, after which you may leave the steam room.
After the steam room, wash away sweat under the shower and dip into the “hole” – the pool. Even healthy people can dive into it for no longer than 22 seconds. Such cooling is most effective, but it puts a strain on the cardiovascular system, and therefore is unacceptable for people with weak hearts. They are more suitable sparing cooling option under the shower, where you can choose a tolerable temperature. In the shower, the first jet should go along the spine from the neck to the tailbone, further as usual.
After that, rest as much time as you warmed up. At this time, you can drink tea (mint is best, which will enhance the relaxing effect) or mineral water. After making 2-3 cycles (steam room-pool), go to the rest room and rub the body for 1-2 minutes using a special glove to clean the skin (it should have hard natural lint) until reddening, then rinse. This rubbing removes all the accumulated dirt from the surface of the skin. But the cleaning does not end there. To become a real scrub, you also need to clean the pores. You can do this with the help of a honey-salt mask. Repeat this three-phase cycle (steam room-hole-rest) in the sauna three or four times, after which, feeling light, pleasant fatigue and extraordinary freshness, you can go home (ideally, straight to bed). Sleeping after a sauna is usually sweet and beautiful, and the morning you will meet in excellent shape.
